Final Project : Do You Have Eyes To See?

     This work is a combination of my artistic ideas and my fathers beautiful work. I scanned a piece that my father illustrated, and printed it out. I then destroyed the prints by ripping and burning them. Then I scanned them back on to the computer and put the pictures back together in Adobe Photoshop.
     The concept o fbeauty in destruction is very important in my eyes. I managed to transform a fairly new piece of work to look like it has been through years and years of destruction. The words in the poem seem to  match with the piece when said, "Before this dream fades and the words fade and the colors fade." The burned edges and ripped pieces make it seem as though the picture is fading.
     I wanted to use my inspiration in art (my father) in my piece and throw what I have learned along with it. There is a blend of older styles and more modern styles and showing the beauty in mixing the two. The old look of the originally drawn piece combined with the use of Photoshop is an example of the clash of the two different kinds of media used. The decision to print smaller is to keep a more intimate feel with the photo do that details can be appreciated as they are and not to be distorted.

Work In Progress

•   What kind of mood/message are you attempting to communicate?   I want to communicate the mood of beauty in destruction. The pictures have been ripped and burned but still seem to have a beauty to them.

•   What other elements do you plan to add to your piece or in what ways are you planning

            to refine it?  I have one more piece to put with it which is the last part of the poem to complete it

• What size will you print your piece and why? I am thinking just printing it about 16x5 to keep it smaller and more intimate and I would present them vertically .

• Do you have alternative plans for finished presentation?  Not really, I would like to mat and frame them though.

• What kind of feedback are you looking for from your classmates? What size do you guys think i should print it?

Changed My Mind

Ok, so I'm keeping the whole ripping burning and scanning process but instead of using pictures of people, I am going to use one of the drawings and writings my father made.

Final Project Proposal

For the final project, I am thinking about getting portraits of people, print them then rip them, burn along the edges of the ripped pieces then scan the pieces and attempt to piece the portrait back together in Photoshop. Yeaaa.....that's all I have. Sounds good, hope it come out even better.

Muybridge Animation

For this assignment, I had a couple ideas, but I resulted in using photos that I took of my nephew Carter last weekend. I used two different pictures of him to show his different face expressions. I also threw the Winnie the Pooh in there because Carter's room is filled with Pooh and it kind of looked cute floating up like it is. All I did was select the photos and rotate them back and forth throughout the frames. I updated the Muybridge frames by adding a baby, which is kind of like updating...I think so lol but, in the modern generation, with technology, this simple horse can be changed many ways probably mostly to advertise. I wanted to do a fun  GIFF. This could be used as a party invitation or something. I dont know really. I really love my nephew and I wanted him incorporated in this assignment because I haven't put him in any other assignments (bad auntie Katie!).

Mapping Assignment

I decided not to make any changes to my work in progress. From seeing your comments, I am satisfied with what I have. Well, this is a map of basically, the first zoos and aquariums that popped up when I searched top zoos and aquariums in the United States. The circles that have a black dots are zoos and circles that have purple dots are aquariums. There was no specific color preference, just some colors I chose. Although, green is more land (zoo) and blue is more water (aquariums). If you look, you will notice that some dots have layers. those are the numbers of zoos or aquariums in that particular city. Where the dots are placed are hoe many are in that particular state. I decided to not show the actual outline of the United States map to give a kind of mysterious feel. It was very interesting that even though you cannot visually see the outline of the map, the dots form a good look of it. Just to be straight about it, these ARE NOT ALL of the zoos and aquariums in the United States. If i was to do that, it would be filled to capacity. This is based off of first search on Google.

Work In Progress

This....is what i have so far. It shows major zoos and aquariums in the United States. This is based on what first popped up in my Google search bar. Not sure if I like it at all. This assignment is not catching my imagination and its pissing me off. Help Help Help! What do you think?
